Our Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Thursday, October 10 was electric! Cathedralites choreographed and organized the entire show in just a few weeks. They performed dances including huapango, salsa, and bachata; recited poems both famous and original and played percussion arrangements inspired by famous Latino songs.

Medical Gateways seniors were officially presented with their White Coats on Friday, October 18. The morning started with a Mass celebrating the feast of St. Luke, the patron saint of physicians, at St. Thomas More Parish. The ceremony, organized by Medical Gateways Academy Director Ms. Amy Anci, included keynote remarks given by guest speaker and alumna Shannon Wales ’03 and senior Madison C. ’25.

Ms. Rosemary Mazzo has been an irreplaceable resource for our students for over seven years, helping countless Cathedralites to learn the skills necessary to succeed professionally and personally after graduating.

Freshman students spent a day at the NYU Catholic Center participating in a retreat hosted by Enliven, Cathedral’s faith and service club. Students engaged with the theme of the retreat, “Identity and Belonging,” in bonding activities as well as in prayer and reflection time.

For our third New Staff Spotlight, we are happy to introduce Ms. Garcia, our Dean of Students; Ms. Maldonado, our School Receptionist; Miss Margand, our Guidance Secretary; and Ms. Motschall, our Administrative Assistant for Academics!

As part of the Women for the World speaker series, missionaries from the Culture Project spoke to the freshman class about human dignity: the innate value which sets human beings apart from the rest of creation.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, students in Enliven are motivated to take action to support Impaktemos, a non-profit educational program that offers women in Venezuela a foundation of skills, values, ​​and virtues to support them, their families, and their communities.

Our first Open House on Saturday was incredible! Our faculty, staff, and students have a contagious excitement and love for the gift of our Cathedral community, and we are deeply grateful for all of the prospective Cathedralites and their families who joined us for the day!

We are so delighted to celebrate Cathedral High School alumna and benefactor, Ursula Burns ’76! Ursula was featured in the Wall Street Journal in an article highlighting CEOs who "start[ed] at the bottom of a company and climb[ed] to the very top.”

For our second New Faculty Feature and Staff Spotlight, we are happy to introduce Ms. Keller, our new Admissions Coordinator, Mr. Tsouristakis, our new history teacher, and Ms. Pouliot and Mr. Kurbakov, our new math teachers!

Cathedral High School students closed their second full week of classes with a bustling and busy Club Fair! Out of twenty-three clubs, it was difficult to select only a few to showcase! We interviewed five to find out what they do and what upcoming events we can look forward to.

The Business, Finance, and Law Academy was pleased to welcome three finance professionals to speak to students about the power of hard work, the importance of staying true to your values, and the opportunities careers in international business provide to work alongside people of different cultures and backgrounds. Ms. Heather Orrico, Mr. Albert Arencibia, and Ms. Roselyn Fernandez are not only successful professionals but also proud parents of three children each!

Many people spend a lifetime trying to discover what they’re passionate about; Akaysha Palmer ’18 found her love for public service and passion for diplomacy as a Cathedralite! Akaysha’s story can inspire current students to set out boldly into their next adventures.

Ms. Chen earned her MFA in sculpture at Hunter College and is drawn to Cathedral’s mission of inspiring young women to reach their full potential. Ms. Corniell grew up in the Dominican Republic, studied psychology at NYU, and will be teaching the rich tradition and history of the Catholic faith in theology class!

Seniors cheered on the freshman class on Welcome Day as they walked up the stairs for the first time as Cathedralites. The day ended with a special bonding activity in each of the freshman homeroom groups.

Two seniors, Dylin T. ’25 and Skyla A. ’25, share their experiences from their summer internships volunteering in our Admissions and Development offices as CHS Ambassadors!

Ms. Aybar, our new Principal, hosted a Meet and Mingle event a couple of weeks ago to connect with the Cathedral community; it was a sweet success!

We were honored to welcome His Eminence Cardinal Dolan for a blessing of our new school home!
