The final day of classes at Cathedral High School was filled with energy, gratitude, and school pride as students, faculty, and staff gathered for a vibrant End of Year celebration. The ceremony recognized academic excellence and dedication, honored the students and staff who embody our core values, welcomed our new student leadership, and welcomed the spirit of sisterhood that defines our CHS community.
Sky M. ’26 and Rocio G. ’26 opened the ceremony with a beautiful, new, interactive school prayer:
God of light and love, (hands open toward the sky) Guide our minds to seek truth, (point to head) Our hearts to give love, (hand over heart) Our hands to serve others,(extend hands outward, palms up) And our feet to walk in courage. (point down to feet) We are daughters of faith—(arms crossed over chest like a hug) And sisters of hope. (hold hands with those near you) Amen.
Next, Amelia B. ’26, Isabela G. ’27, Sofia R. ’28, Erin V. ’28, and Marielle A. ’26 sang the National Anthem together.
One of the highlights of the event was the announcement of the Class of 2026 “Five Faces of Cathedral,” a group of students selected to represent each of the school’s five core values: faith, service, respect, integrity, and hard work. Congratulations to Esmeralda F. ’26, Carla R. ’26, Gia C. ’26, Mikala M. ’26, and Mairin W. ’26 for being chosen to model and promote these values in the year ahead!
Ms. Elizabeth Hughes then presented the Core Value Awards, recognizing students from each grade who exemplify all five values in their daily lives. Awards were also given to students with perfect attendance and punctuality—a testament to their dedication and consistency—and to those with outstanding academic achievement, nominated by faculty for their excellence in both performance and participation.
Reflecting on the immense value of teachers, Ms. Aybar shared that teachers “do more than teach—they shape minds, mold character, and stir the human spirit…They challenge students to think deeply, love boldly, and live with integrity. Their impact echoes far beyond the classroom, far beyond the school day.”
Next, in recognition of a member of our faculty who lives out our mission—not just in what they teach, but in who they are—the Faculty Core Value Award was given to Ms. Elizabeth Hughes. Thank you to all of our faculty and staff members who carry this calling with heart, faith, and a deep sense of service!
Closing out the event, Ms. Aybar introduced the newly elected 2025-2026 Student Council. Congratulations to Sophia P. (President), Star M. (Vice President), Brianna L. (Secretary), Esmeralda F. (Student Engagement Officer), and Gia C. (Public Relations Officer). Each took a pledge to lead with integrity, listen with compassion, and serve their peers with humility.
Congratulations, students, on all your hard work, and good luck with final exams!
