Eleany P. ’28 discovered Cathedral High School through her next-door neighbor, who knew of CHS’s numerous programs, courses, and opportunities. Now a freshman, Eleany thrives within our tight-knit school community, an environment that allows her to have a relationship with everyone. She remarked, “Being around people with big goals helps you to go far as well.” In high school, Eleany hopes not only to pour herself into her education but also into forming many social connections; she recognizes the importance of making connections and learning communication skills for the future.
When Eleany was 6 years old, she watched Legally Blonde; ever since then, she decided that she wanted to attend Harvard. She hopes to double major in Psychology and Political Science with minors in Public Relations and Communications but is also considering history as she understands the value in knowing and understanding the past. After earning her undergraduate degree, Eleany plans to attend law school in order to become a lawyer and potentially enter politics as well.
Eleany was recently accepted in Leadership Initiatives' Criminal Law & Trial Internship at Georgetown University on a full scholarship. Ms. Amy Anci, Eleany’s health teacher, knew of the program because CHS senior Emily C. ’25 participated in the Neuroscience and Public Health Internships in previous summers, and Ms. Anci recommended that Eleany apply to the Law program. In her week-long summer internship, Eleany and a group of high school students from around the nation will work directly with attorneys on an active trial case and learn legal ethics from top law professors. Eleany explains that she is “hungry for hands-on experience”! Although she feels passionate about criminal law, she admits, “I’m one of the most passionate people I know,” and hopes eventually to figure out exactly which type of law she wants to pursue.
When Eleany received news of being admitted into the program, she felt “that feeling that you finally got that thing that you worked hard for.” We are so proud of you, Eleany, for embodying our core value of hard work through your persistence and endless enthusiasm!
