Ring Day is a milestone in a junior’s high school journey—students receive and wear the traditional CHS class ring, or a special ring of their choosing, for the first time. The ring not only symbolizes their call to lead as seniors, but also the lifelong bond they share with Cathedralites past and present.
In his homily, His Excellency Bishop Edmund Whalen reflected on the three Latin words of CHS’s motto engraved on every Cathedral ring—religio, mores, and cultura.
Religio, meaning “bond,” represents students’ relationships with God, their families, and fellow Cathedralites.
Mores refers to the way one lives—seeing the needs of those around you and answering them.
Cultura calls Cathedralites to transform the world. Because each Cathedralite has been given religio and has cultivated mores, she is called to change the culture by being the woman God created her to be.
“Ring Day is a challenge to be the woman God has called you to be,” Bishop Whalen reminded our juniors. “This year of the ring is a time to decide how you will use the education you’ve been given.” We are confident that these rising seniors will rise to the challenge, using their God-given gifts to become women for the world.
Congratulations to all students who received special honors, including Rachelle F. ’26, recipient of the St. Luke Medical Gateways Award, and Rocio G. ’26, recipient of the Core Value Award. We are so proud of all of our juniors, who continue to model our core values at school!
Thank you to Bishop Whalen for celebrating this beautiful Mass, our dedicated faculty and staff for making the day so special, and to all families who joined us to show their love and support.
